Chris Cortese is a Principal, Senior Financial Advisor and Director of Nex Gen Advisor Development with Wescott and is responsible for the preparation and ongoing management of client financial plans, annual financial updates and investment portfolio reviews, recommendations and implementation. His responsibilities are related to all facets of financial planning, investment portfolios and wealth management. Chris’ role begins with the assimilation and organization of clients’ financial information such as their family demographics, financial assets, and business and estate documents. He also works with clients to identify financial objectives and goals.
As the Director of Next Gen Advisor Development, Chris is responsible for the coordination, oversight, supervision, coaching, and development of Wescott’s Next Generation Advisors, including the firm’s new associate advisors, assistant advisors and interns.
A member of Wescott’s Tax Alpha Group, Chris plays a significant role in the development of tax-efficient strategies and educational materials to address clients’ complex tax issues and reduce their income tax liabilities. He also serves on the firm’s Portfolio Strategy Group, which oversees the firm’s dynamic investment strategies, ongoing due diligence of Wescott’s investment managers and asset allocation design.
A Certified Financial Planner™, Chris is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors.
Chris received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a concentration in financial planning; he also completed his Masters in Taxation and Financial Planning from Widener University. Most recently, Chris participated in Fidelity Investments’ G2 Leadership Institute program, which focuses on developing leadership and management skills of future leaders of successful financial advisory firms. Prior to joining Wescott, he worked for a financial services firm as a financial planner.
He resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania with his three sons.
