Scott Michalek is a Senior Financial Advisor with Wescott and is responsible for the preparation and ongoing management of client financial plans, annual financial updates and investment portfolio reviews, recommendations and implementation. With more than 20 years’ of experience, Scott’s expertise is in comprehensive financial planning, portfolio policy and analysis, retirement planning and tax planning. He also specializes in working with many of Wescott’s non-profit, endowment and foundation clients. Scott serves on the firm’s Portfolio Strategy Group, which oversees the firm’s dynamic investment strategies, ongoing due diligence of Wescott’s investment managers and asset allocation design.
Prior to joining Wescott, Scott was a financial advisor with an investment advisory firm in Pittsburgh.
A recipient of the Five Star Wealth Manager of Philadelphia distinction from Philadelphia Magazine, Scott is active in several professional organizations, including the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors and the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. He served on the board of the FPA Philadelphia Tri-State Area Chapter for several years, is a past president of the chapter, and is a member of the organization’s Media Response Team. Scott’s advice has been featured in a variety of national, local and industry media outlets, including Financial Planning, The Fiscal Times and the Journal of Financial Planning, on topics related to estate planning, charitable giving and tax planning.
Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in business economics from the College of Wooster and his master’s degree in business administration from Duquesne University. In 1997, Scott became a Certified Financial Planner™ after completing the professional education program at the College for Financial Planning.
He resides in Dresher, Pennsylvania with his wife, Andrea Michalek, and their two children.
